If you find any reference errors, please list them here.

The Official Formula 1 Website contains errors - The entry for Johnny Herbert is misplaced (it belongs at the bottom of the table) and also, he is listed as "DNS" (didn not start). He was not present at the restart, but because he did take the original start of the race, he should be listed as "Ret" (retired) to follow the WikiProject Formula One policy regarding DNS entries. ChicaneF1.com does list Herbert as "Ret". Bobby Doorknobs 13:55, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

Johnny Herbert (Race)

The reason for Johnny Herbert's DNS varies widely among sources: fire, oil leak, no spare car, not restarted, etc. They are all somewhat correct but the point is that a results table is not the right place to explain what happened. I have changed the description to "Not restarted", as that's probably the best general term for situations like this. Bobby Doorknobs 14:00, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

Jacques Villeneuve (Race)

Did Schumacher made an error in the formation lap by starting from the back of the grid?

Takagi also stalled the engine, Schumacher therefore was not overtaken by everybody in the field which forces a driver to start from behind therefore I would assume that he could have started from third place, the position he achieved during the qualifying session.

The race directors interpretation of the rules was that he couldn't (presumably because Takagi had also stalled). Unless you can find a reliable source which supports this view it cannot be mentioned in the article.

Do you have a source for the the race director's interpretation? All can make up from re-watching the entire race is that there was a lot of confusion about what the right action was supposed to be. And while we can't directly state that Schumacher starting last was a mistake without a proper source, we can still mention that Michael was not the last car of the grid.Tvx1 19:22, 11 June 2020 (UTC)

I could be wrong but I seem to remember the commentary team (English commentary) saying that Ferrari had been told by the race director that he had to line up at the back. But again I could have remembered incorrectly.

Formula 1 has made the english commentary broadcast available on their youtube channel last week. The commentators (Murray Walker and Martin Brundle) actually stated that they assumed that Ferrari must have been told to start from the back when he did so, but they didn't actually convey a message from the race director. With a bit of googling you should also be able to find a german language broadcast of the race. In the one I watched, which from the german pay TV F1 broadcast (there is seperate free to air broadcast on RTL), the commentators (Jacques Schulz and Marc Surer) insisted that Schumacher should been able to take the start from his original grid spot. Moreover that broadcaster had a pit lane reporter and they transmitted a live interview from the Ferrari garage (in english) during which the Ferrari spokesperson stated that they had instructed Schumacher to start from the back out of precaution because they weren't certain what the rules actually allowed and because there simply wasn't enough time to find out.Tvx1 18:28, 19 June 2020 (UTC)
